The UK's third major nuclear power project now has a location: the government has chosen Wylfa in Anglesey, Wales as the station's destination. Wylfa has been chosen due to its proximity to cooling water and nuclear heritage.
It's expected that the future power plant will be able to provide energy to approximately six million homes for 60 years. The Wylfa project will be developed similarly to Hinkley Point and Sizewell C, nuclear developments in Somerset and Suffolk, respectively.
The local economy should directly benefit from the initiative, as thousands of jobs will be created for the construction of the power plant and attract investment from global energy companies.
